Bright Star was the first musical produced by the ETSU Department of Theatre and Dance in its new black box theatre. I was the Assistant Lighting Designer, but became Acting Lighting Designer when the LD came down with COVID-19. This presented a challenge as I had to learn another person’s rig and number schemes days before tech rehearsals started. I drafted a comprehensive magic sheet to help get me through cueing and calling the followspot operators in rehearsals.
